It's Red Ribbon Week at Gunter ISD. Students at GES and GMS will spend the week dressing up, coloring posters, learning facts, and so much more! The theme for this year is "Life is a movie, film drug free!" Let your child be the star of his/her own movie by making the best choices possible. Their script is unwritten, and as a caregiver, you must guide your child in the right direction to write their story of success. Our goal at the school is to start the conversation about the dangers of drug use; we ask that you continue that conversation at home.
We are excited to see the costumes this week. Please remember that all costumes must stay within the guidelines of the GISD Dress Code.

Driving 101 - Refresher on School Bus Lights
- Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. You should slow down and prepare to stop your vehicle.
- Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. You must stop your car and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving, before you can start driving again.
#BusSafetyWeek

Stop for School Buses!
When you see a school bus slowing down or stopping, it’s not just the bus that you need to have your eyes on – but the surrounding area too. Children wait at least several feet away from a bus and often cross the street when they’re boarding or getting off the bus. This is why you must stop for school buses, and don’t attempt to pass. #SchoolBusSafety

While student safety is a year-round priority, National School Bus Safety Week is a time to remind everyone of the measures we must take to keep our bus riders safe. As part of the campaign, Gunter ISD Transportation will be conducting emergency evacuation drills to make sure our students know how to safely evacuate a bus. We will also be sharing important reminders for you, so stay tuned!
