Please join us in welcoming Chris Walker to Gunter ISD as our Gunter High School Head Basketball Coach and Gunter Middle School Math Teacher.
Coach Walker brings 13 years of experience in education and coaching and will begin his 14th year this fall. Throughout his career, he has served in Red Oak ISD, Frisco ISD, and Lovejoy ISD, coaching football, basketball, and track at both the middle school and high school levels. Most recently, he taught Algebra II and served as the Associate Head Basketball Coach and Head Boys Cross Country Coach at Reedy High School in Frisco ISD.
A graduate of the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, Coach Walker's passion for basketball and mentoring young people led him to a career in education and coaching. He shared that joining Gunter was an easy decision, saying, "It's always been a dream of mine to lead my own basketball program, and the opportunity to do so in a community we already felt connected to made this a perfect fit."
Coach Walker and his wife, Abi, who is also an educator, will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary this summer. They have two sons, Charlie (8) and Samuel (3).

Wednesday, June 24
HS Skills: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Open Gym: 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Coach Walker will be available to meet and greet parents during Open Gym.
Thursday, June 25
JH Skills: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
HS Skills: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Open Gym: 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Coach Walker will be available to meet and greet parents during Open Gym.
Friday, June 26
HS Open Gym: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
All skills sessions and open gyms will be held in the Auxiliary Gym.
