Gunter ISD is excited to welcome Joe Williams as the new U.S. History teacher and football coach at Gunter ISD and Gunter High School.
Coach Williams brings nearly 20 years of experience in education and athletics, along with a strong commitment to student success in the classroom and on the field. He began his career after graduating from Texas A&M University in 2004 and has since served in a variety of impactful roles across North Texas schools.
Throughout his career, Coach Williams has taught and coached at several successful programs, including Melissa High School, Whitewright High School, and most recently Aledo High School. His experience spans multiple leadership positions such as offensive coordinator, head football coach, athletic director, track coach, and classroom teacher. This diverse background reflects both his passion for teaching U.S. History and his deep expertise in developing student-athletes.
Coach Williams is married to his high school sweetheart, Sydney, and together they are proud parents of four children—Judson (8th grade), Bishop (6th grade), Rowan (5th grade), and Hogan (2nd grade). The Williams family is excited to be returning closer to home and joining the Gunter community.
When asked what inspired his move, Coach Williams shared that the decision was driven by the opportunity to be closer to family and to join an outstanding school district. Coming from a family of educators, he originally considered a career in sports management but ultimately found his calling in coaching while supporting his younger brother at Melissa High School.
Gunter ISD is proud to welcome Coach Williams and looks forward to the leadership, experience, and enthusiasm he will bring to Gunter High School both in the classroom and on the football field.
