Officer Thomas and his family

My name is Joshua Wayne Thomas, though most people just call me Josh. I’ve spent my life in service to something bigger than myself—first in the military, then in law enforcement, and always to my family and community. I proudly served eight years as a State Trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety in Grayson County, where every day gave me the opportunity to protect and serve the people around me.

Before that, I wore the uniform of the United States Marine Corps, where I served as an Infantry Rifleman and earned the rank of Corporal. The discipline, brotherhood, and sense of purpose I found there shaped who I am today. I continued to serve in the United States Air Force as a Crew Chief, reaching the rank of Technical Sergeant.

Education has been just as important to me as service. I earned my Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature from Southern New Hampshire University and an Associate’s in Aviation Maintenance Technology from Community College of the Air Force. Learning and pushing myself to grow—whether in the classroom or in the field—has always been part of my journey.

I live in Pottsboro, Texas with my wife, Kaitlyn, and our three daughters—Kloe, Jessi, and Sadie. Family is everything to me, and it’s a big part of why I’ve dedicated my life to service. I became a police officer to keep that same sense of purpose alive—to serve, protect, and make a real impact.
