“Dr. Enos is a visionary leader who understands how to align academic, financial, and operational goals to move a district forward,” said Board President Gabe Johnson. “He brings energy, thoughtfulness, and a student-first mindset to every decision, and we are excited about the future of Gunter ISD under his leadership.”
“I am honored and humbled to be named the Lone Finalist for superintendent in Gunter ISD,” said Dr. Enos. “This is a district with a proud tradition and a bright future. I look forward to working with the board, staff, and community to make sure every student has the opportunity to thrive.”
Dr. Enos currently serves as Superintendent of Cushing ISD, where he has led a series of initiatives that improved instructional quality, expanded student opportunities, and strengthened district finances. Under his leadership, the district launched a data-driven instructional model that reduced intervention pullouts by 35%, implemented new CTE pathways with industry certifications, and introduced a district-wide 1:1 technology initiative. The district’s STAAR scores increased by 12% during his tenure, and discipline referrals dropped by more than 80% after the adoption of a district-wide character education program.
Cushing ISD’s financial health also improved significantly under his leadership, with the fund balance increasing from $5.88 million to $10.55 million in three years. Dr. Enos also oversaw renovations to academic and athletic facilities and replaced 65% of the transportation fleet, including the district’s first electric buses.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Enos served as Assistant Superintendent and High School Principal in Goliad ISD. There, he introduced a district-wide literacy initiative that raised early elementary reading levels from 41% to 87% in five months. He also implemented a Teacher Incentive Allotment plan, expanded dual credit offerings, and introduced programs in electrical, veterinary, and plumbing certifications.
Earlier in his career, he served as principal in Kermit ISD, where he launched an Early College High School and a successful “Grow Your Own Teacher” initiative. His instructional leadership helped students improve reading performance by nearly three grade levels in two years.
Dr. Enos holds a Doctorate in Instructional Leadership from the American College of Education, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University, and a Bachelor’s in Social Studies Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is a U.S. Army veteran and active advocate for Texas public schools, currently serving as the Legislative Chair for the Texas Rural Education Association.
