We are so excited to welcome Leigh Clopton to Gunter Elementary! With 25 years in education and a deep love for this community, she brings experience, heart, and a passion for student growth. Here's a message from Mrs. Clopton in her own words:

“My name is Leigh Clopton and I am beyond excited to be stepping back into the classroom as a 3rd grade Math & Science teacher at Gunter Elementary School.

My husband, Kevin, and I moved to Gunter in 2009 with our two boys, Bryce and Braiden, after we fell in love with the big hearts in this small town. My boys attended school in Gunter while I continued to teach in Frisco ISD where I had built so many strong relationships.

I believe that student success is built on a strong support triangle of students, parents, and colleagues. This important triad has been the backbone of my teaching for the last 25 years. The majority of my nineteen full-time teaching years were in 3rd grade, but the last six have been teaching part-time as a K-5 Interventionist. This temporary pivot allowed me time to not only travel to my youngest son’s college football games on weekends, but also gave me the most precious time to be a “Lele” to my first granddaughter, Presley.

I am enthusiastic and ready for this new transition and opportunity to help my students discover a love of learning. I have high hopes that our classroom will be a place where grit, grace, and growth mindsets synergistically thrive.

I can’t wait to pour into my little Tigers in the fall and make a lasting difference in their lives. You can bet we will be having fun while working hard, supporting one another, and celebrating each other’s ‘wins’ along the way.”

Help us give her a warm Tiger welcome!
