The Lone Star Cup was delivered and presented before the football game on September 15th! Our GHS students earned 1st place in the competition with the TPW attitude. The UIL Lone Star Cup program began in 1997 and recognizes one school in each of the six divisions based on a point system earned through academics, athletics, fine arts, robotics, and music championships. Both, Gunter ISD and Corpus Christi London earned 79 points throughout the 22-23 academic school year. A tie is broken with the number of State Titles, and with Gunter ISD having two (football and volleyball) we were placed 1st.
Special thanks to Ray Zepeda (UIL AD), Gene Darnell (Texas Farm Bureau Insurance), and Adam Hochfelder (Sports in Action) for personally delivering and presenting the trophy to Mr. Scott Martindale (Superintendent), Mr. Josh Barton (GHS Principal), Shaye Murphy (CAO),
Mr. Lance Lemberg (GHS Asst. Principal) and our GISD School Board Members. The trophy will be proudly displayed!
Especially, thank you to our Gunter Tiger fans for always supporting our students and cheering them on in their competitions. You make a difference!
