Partnering with Parents
Gunter Independent School District recognizes the important role parents play in their children's education. We are committed to maintaining open communication with families, supporting parental involvement, and complying with Texas laws regarding parental rights in public education.
Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), passed during the 89th Texas Legislative Session, strengthens certain parental rights and establishes requirements for school districts regarding parental consent, student health-related services, instructional information, and other aspects of public education. The law generally took effect September 1, 2025.
This page provides parents and guardians with information and resources to help them understand their rights and access applicable district information.
