Gunter ISD is excited to welcome Travis Harris to the Gunter High School faculty!
Mr. Harris brings a wealth of experience as both an educator and professional musician. Originally from the Texas Gulf Coast, he earned his Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance from Lamar University and continued his studies at the University of North Texas in Jazz Studies, where he performed with the nationally acclaimed Two O’Clock Lab Band.
With nearly 20 years as a full-time professional musician, Mr. Harris has performed across the country and internationally, working with legendary artists such as The Temptations, The Fifth Dimension, Percy Sledge, The Platters, and The O’Jays. His work as a trombonist, musical director, and arranger has earned him national recognition, including multiple award nominations and honors.
In addition to his performing career, Mr. Harris is a dedicated music educator and highly sought-after clinician for middle and high school band programs. He continues to share his passion for music through teaching, guest conducting, and performing.
Mr. Harris has called the Denton area home for many years and enjoys spending time with his wife, Maria, and their four children.
We are thrilled to have Mr. Harris lead the Gunter High School Band program and look forward to the energy, expertise, and passion he will bring to our students and community!
