I am a graduate of the University of North Texas.  I am beginning my 34th year of teaching.  I am married and have four children, two granddaughters, and one grandson. I am passionate about teaching reading and writing! I want to instill in students a love of both.

Books inspire us, teach valuable lessons, and help us to think critically!

Course Information

The following guidelines will create a comfortable and productive learning environment for everyone.

 You can expect me:

  •   to passionately share my love of reading and writing

  •   provide opportunities for students to gain knowledge and develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills

  •  to start and end class on time

  •  to reply to e-mails within 24 hours

  •   to assign homework that adequately covers the material and meets the learning objectives of the course

  • to give exams that accurately reflect the material covered in class and assigned as homework 

I can expect you:

  • to be in your seat with all required materials when class is scheduled to begin

  •    to be attentive and participate in class

  •    to spend an adequate amount of time on homework each week and to turn homework in on time

  •    to ask for help when needed

  •   do your best

Grading Policy

 ELAR:

60% of a grade will be based on formative assessments and assignments (class discussion, daily practice, homework, and classwork)

40% of a grade will be based on summative assessments (tests, projects, presentations, and reports)

Grades will be based on mastery of curriculum
