Class participation is key to student success; therefore, a participation grade is included each quarter. However, student cannot succeed if they are not prepared for class.

Everyone begins class with a 100% Participation/Preparedness average, and now it is up to you to keep it. This can be in the form of completed homework or another assignment deemed a participatory grade by the teacher.

Honors Contract

Cheating/ Plagiarism

Cheating and plagiarism are serious offenses and will not be tolerated. Any student who is found to be cheating on homework, a quiz or a test shall receive a failing grade or zero, shall forfeit the right to make-up the assignment, quiz or test, and shall be dealt with by administration relative to the Student Handbook. Additionally, any classroom material submitted for evaluation determined to be plagiarized shall be given a failing grade or zero, shall forfeit the right to make-up the assignment, and shall be dealt with by administration relative to the Student Handbook.

Be aware that copying from another student or allowing another student to copy from you is not acceptable on any assignment or in any situation other than teacher-assigned group work. This behavior is called cheating, not helping, and will result in the procedures described above.

Extra Credit

Extra credit is given sparingly in this class. Extra credit is extra work and is not meant to replace work not completed in class. If a student has a "0" in the grade book they are ineligible for extra credit.

These policies are subject to change.

Classroom Expectations

The following guidelines will create a comfortable and productive learning environment for everyone.

Classroom Expectations

  1. Respect yourself.

  2. Respect your peers.

  3. Respect your instructor.

Classwork:

Throughout the year, we will focus on different concepts and ideas involved with your student's content area. We will focus on the needs of the individuals in the classroom and work together to achieve success. Homework assignments will be assigned throughout the week.

Late work and make-up work will be accepted according to school policy. Students are responsible for advocating for themselves in regard to missing work. Upon returning to school, students should check-in with me about missing assignments and make-up work.

Please check our Google Classroom site daily for course information, notes and assignments, etc.

Journal:  Every student must keep a compasion notebook to record journals in daily. Journal entries include the following:

  • Write date on top on right hand side for each entry

  • Write journal topic on top line

  • Write one page double spaced

Journals will be graded based on content and organization on a regular basis.
(A little effort will yield an easy 100. Please put in that effort!)

Assessments:

Students will be assessed using a variety of methods, including but not limited to quizzes and tests.  At my discretion, students may be allowed to correct their tests and receive a portion of the unearned points back.

Communication:

I encourage parents to contact me if there are any questions regarding their student's work or behavior. Email is the best way to communicate with me.

This policy is subject to change without notice.
