I am excited to be a part of the Gunter ISD Family. I have been a teacher/coach for 14 years and this is my seventh year in Gunter. I have previously been at Melissa, Whitewright, and Anna school districts.

I am married to Rebecca, who has taught in Gunter previously and is an Executive Coach with Novus Global, a photographer and a stay-at-home mom. We have three daughters, Charlotte, Georgia and Elizabeth (Birdie).

I will be teaching Honors Algebra 2 as well as Foundations in Personal Finance. I am an assistant Football coach and the head Track & Field coach.

I look forward to having a great year and serving the students of Gunter ISD! Go Tigers - TPW!

Course Information

The following guidelines will create a comfortable and productive learning environment for everyone.

Classroom Expectations:

1)      Respect yourself.

2)      Respect your peers.

3)      Respect your instructor.

Classwork: Throughout the year, we will learn about Foundations in Personal Finance. We will focus on the needs of the individuals in the classroom and work together to achieve success. Homework assignments will be rare so long as class time is utilized appropriately. Projects will be given throughout each unit.

Late work and make-up work will be accepted according to school policy. Students are responsible for advocating for themselves in regard to missing work. Upon returning to school, students should check-in with me about missing assignments and make-up work.

Assignments will be posted daily in google classroom and available for students when they have missed a day of school.

Assessments:  Students will be assessed using a variety of methods, including but not limited to quizzes and tests.  At my discretion, students may be allowed to correct their tests and receive a portion of the unearned points back.

 Nine Week Grades: Tests/Projects: 40%; Daily Work/Quizzes: 60%

Communication:  I encourage parents to contact me if there are any questions regarding a student’s work or behavior. Email is the best way to communicate with me.

This policy is subject to change without notice.

Grading Policy

Class participation is key to student success; therefore, a participation grade is included each quarter. However, student cannot succeed if they are not prepared for class.

Everyone begins class with a 100% Participation/Preparedness average, and now it is up to you to keep it. This can be in the form of completed homework or another assignment deemed a participatory grade by the teacher.

Daily work (daily and homework assignments)/Quizzes = 60%

Tests/Projects = 40%

Cheating/ Plagiarism

Cheating and plagiarism are serious offenses and will not be tolerated. Any student who is found to be cheating on homework, a quiz or a test shall receive a failing grade or zero, shall forfeit the right to make-up the assignment, quiz or test, and shall be dealt with by administration relative to the Student Handbook. Additionally, any classroom material submitted for evaluation determined to be plagiarized shall be given a failing grade or zero, shall forfeit the right to make-up the assignment, and shall be dealt with by administration relative to the Student Handbook.

Be aware that copying from another student or allowing another student to copy from you is not acceptable on any assignment or in any situation other than teacher-assigned group work. This behavior is called cheating, not helping, and will result in the procedures described above.

Extra Credit

Extra credit is given sparingly in this class. Extra credit is extra work and is not meant to replace work not completed in class. If a student has a "0" in the grade book they are ineligible for extra credit.

These policies are subject to change.
