I am so excited to begin my 8th year as an educator in Gunter, TX! I have previously taught in Anna, Celina, and Plano. I was raised in Celina where I graduated with a small class of just 42 students. I was active in sports and cheerleading all the way through school and even ran on the 1995 State Championship track team. I love a small town with big tradition! I graduated from the University of North Texas with an accounting degree and enjoyed my first career as an Internal Auditor. After starting a family, I decided I wanted to devote my time to my children and when they were old enough, I went back to get a teaching certificate.
I currently live in Celina with my husband, John, and our two children Audrey (8th grade) and Miles (5th Grade.) They are both excited to trade their Orange for Blue and join me in Gunter for the 2022/2023 school year. My husband has enjoyed a long career in technology and currently works as a consultant for Amazon Web Services (AWS.) Audrey is a theatre enthusiast and has performed in over 20 productions between school and community theatre. Miles enjoys playing video games and hanging out with his family.
This is an exciting year for GISD as we begin to transition our award winning Choir program to a broader performing arts program with an emphasis on Musical Theatre. I will be teaching Middle and High School classes of Musical Theatre as well as High School Technical Theatre. Students can look forward to One Act Play competitions at the Middle and High School levels. Technical theatre students will have the opportunity to compete in the UIL Theatrical Design contest. We will travel to the Texas Thespian State Festival where students will have an opportunity to compete with solo, duet, or ensemble pieces. Of course, we will continue to honor beloved traditions like the annual Character Dinner and show stopping musicals. We're going to work hard and have a lot of fun!

Grading Policy
Grades will be calculated from student’s assessments, projects, presentations, class work and participation:
Assessments = 40%
Class Work & Participation = 60%
Late work and Retesting in the event of a failing test grade will be handled according to the GHS Grading Policy.
A Note About Participation:
I assume that each student comes to class prepared (with required materials) and ready to participate, therefore you will start each class with a 100 for the day. Those students who choose not to participate in class discussions, demonstrations and activities or choose to disrupt the class will receive a grade of zero for that day. Participation grades will be taken each day and then averaged into a weekly participation grade. Full and appropriate participation makes the class fun!
