I am the 4th grade reading teacher.  I have always loved to read, and I often was reading 2 or 3 books at the same time as a child.  Reading is an important life skill.  It brings families together, and it gives everyone a chance to explore what lies beyond their own town.

Parents, please read to your children, or let them read to you. My greatest hope is that my students will realize reading can be enjoyable.

I was born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.  I received my Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Waterloo. I then moved to Japan to teach English for 6 months.  I ended up staying for 2 1/2 years.  During this time I taught English to students between the ages of 4 and 74 and traveled around Japan and neighboring countries.  While on vacation, in Cancun, I met A Texan who ran a sail and snorkel tour.  Two years later we married and eventually moved out to Gunter.  We have lived in Gunter for 22 years.  We have raised our 3 children in Gunter.

My son, Cooper, is an Airborne Army Paratrooper stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC.  My daughter, Heidi, is starting her second year at GCCC, and is looking to majoring in Environmental Law in the future. My son, Jack, is a Junior at GHS.  He plays the trumpet in the marching band.  My husband, Johnny, works for AT&T as a Network Administrator.

As for me, I'm starting my 15th year at Gunter Elementary School.  I love kids!!!  I love to watch them get excited about learning!!  I am blessed to be working my dream job.
