Graphics Design
Course Information:
Digital Graphics and Animation is an introductory course in design, typography, and imaging techniques. The course includes topics such as digital composition, color, imaging, editing, and animation. The student will use the computer's set of tools to produce and edit digital designs as well as to incorporate design principles when capturing digital images with the scanner and camera. Students will work with color, resolution, and halftones as well as other image enhancing strategies including outlining, cropping, digital manipulation, color correction, masking, and the use of channels, paths, background, and layers. Animation, both 2-D and 3-D, will be introduced in this course.


Course Objectives:

        1. The student demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of hardware components, software programs, and their
                connections.

        2  The student uses data input skills appropriate to the task.

        3. The student complies with the laws and examines the issues regarding the use of technology in society.

        4. The student uses a variety of strategies to acquire information from electronic resources, with appropriate supervision.

        5. The student acquires electronic information in a variety of formats, with appropriate supervision.

        6. The student evaluates the acquired electronic information.

        7. The student uses appropriate computer-based productivity tools to create and modify solutions to problems.

        8. The student uses research skills and electronic communication, with appropriate supervision, to create new knowledge.

        9. The student uses technology applications to facilitate evaluation of work, both process and product.

        10. The student formats digital information for appropriate and effective communication.

        11. The student delivers the product electronically in a variety of media, with appropriate supervision.

        12. The student uses technology applications to facilitate evaluation of communication, both process and product.

Materials Required:

Bring to class every day:
        - One spiral notebook, dedicated to this class, to keep notes.
           You WILL be taking notes in this class and you will be graded on these notes.
        - Writing utensil (blue or black ink or pencil only). I will not accept any other color.
        - Notebook paper.
