SYLLABUS


INTRODUCTION

             In health education, students acquire the health information and skills necessary to become healthy adults and learn about behaviors in which they should and should not participate. To achieve that goal, students will understand the following: students should first seek guidance in the area of health from their parents; personal behaviors can increase or reduce health risks throughout the lifespan; health is influenced by a variety of factors; students can recognize and utilize health information and products; and personal/interpersonal skills are needed to promote individual, family, and community health.

GRADES

GRADING SYSTEM
        The following grading system is followed at Gunter I.S.D.
                90-100 Excellent
                80-89 Good
                75-79 Average
                70-74 Below Average
                Below 70 Failing
High School Course Grades: Daily scores = 50% + Test Scores = 50% of each Six weeks grade.
Class grades will consist of Daily work, homework, class projects, quizzes and Test.

LATE WORK


        If a student turns in an assignment up to 1 class period late, a maximum of 50% credit will be given. Late work will not be accepted after 1 class period. The student will be given a zero. This will apply to all assignments except for modifications prescribed through ARDS for CMC students. Students may make up all work missed for an excused absence with full credit. Students will also get to make up work from an unexcused for full credit. However, for every unexcused absence 2pts will be taken off their final grade. It is the responsibility of the student to arrange with teachers to make up work. All make up work should be completed one day after the student returns to school. In the case of prolonged illness the parents are encouraged to pick up work from the office.
