My classes are all off to a good start. I am enjoying getting to know my students and am looking forward to a wonderful year.
Parents, if you ever have questions or want to check on the progress of your student, please email or call me. I truly mean it when I say that I am here for my students and I want to help them. Encourage them to come to tutorials if they have questions. On Friday, I have Commons duty, but I help students as I am monitoring the cafeteria. You may also check your students grades by logging on to K12 planet. (Contact the office to set up a password.) Last year I regularly posted messages to notify parents about upcoming test and or projects. I will try and do the same this year.
Grading Policies:
Advanced Geometry, Advanced Algebra II, and Precalculus: Tests-50%, Quizzes-30%, Homework-20%. Late work is not accepted.
Dual Credit College Algebra:
The Gunter grade will be 80% tests and 20% homework. Five major tests and then a comprehensive final are planned. The final will be weighted as one of six major exams. The majority of the homework assignments will be the odd number problems so that students may check their answers. The homework grades are primarily effort grades.
The Grayson grade will be 84% tests and 16% homework. The final will be recorded twice and the lowest test score will be dropped. If the final is the lowest, then one of the two will be dropped. Math Application: Tests/Projects- 50%, homework/quizzes- 50%. We will have a project in each unit. It will relate the concepts we have been studying to the student's "real world". I believe this course is one of the most important classes a student can take. It is my goal that they will leave the class wil information that will positively impact them for a LIFETIME.
